A completely incomplete look at all of the things that make me pause, think, smile, and feel in a given day. Truly, 'dani colored' glasses aren't crystal clear, but they clearly allow for a unique perspective on the world.

5- Year Joy
I'm supposed to be basking in the joy of having her all paid off by the end the of yr.
Last yr got in an accident and dented my hood...I refer to it as a dimple...gives her personality.
Late last yr. I realized that one of my back windows takes longer than the others to go back up. I guess I need a motor.
At the beginning of this year, one of my doors deflected from the "automatic lock union" and so it needs to be manually locked and unlocked. Guess I need a motor there too?
Two weeks ago, the brakes/rotors went crazy. The cost... nearly $500.
This week, I get in the car and the check engine light is on.
Seriously?

Options
(as a point of reference I cover my insurance 100%)
Madam,
Things are expensive and so your rates are going up. We think so highly of you that we'd like to offer you a choice in the event that the newly raised rates are too much for you.
You can remain with your current plan:
Monthly premium increases from $190 to $220
Deductible: $500
or you can maintain your monthly premium of $190 and your deductible will be $1000
Thank You,
Health Insurance People
-----------------------------------------------------------
1. My rate went up when I turned 26 in September.(happy birthday!)
2. Is that really a choice? I mean lets say I need to actually use my insurance who in the world has $1000 lying around for a deductible?
-Basically what you're doing is offering my a choice, for choice sake, but its not a real option. You might as well save me the extra paragraph of reading and just tell me my rate is going up.
Ugh! Adulthood is a Toothless B*tch!

Something About Her.....

Desiree Rogers--White House Social Secretary
(P.S. yes she was @ NY Fashion week...yes that is Anna Wintour...mmhmm and Donna Karan)
I've never hidden the fact that when I voted for Barack Obama I was actually voting for Michelle. I'm equally tickled that the fabulousness of Michelle extends to her staff.
Mad As Hell

My dear friend sent me a text this weekend that shockingly evoked the kind of anger, within myself, that I hadn't felt in almost a year. I broke out into a mini-rant and quickly realized that my anger was nearing rage. Sweets wiped his shocked, side-eye look from his face and calmly started to dig until we got the bottom of the issues.
To be clear, the text that I received had NOTHING to do with me. It had everything to do with a friend's desire to keep his apt cleaned...and not having his g/f in close enough proximity to help. (I don't know why that was a trigger--wait, yes I do).
I realized that I get mad as hell and simultaneously incredulous at the audacity of my ex-friends and ex's family to harbor some kind of ill-sentiment toward me and my desire to find happiness elsewhere. Not kind of bothered, or sort of upset...no....I end up boiling. (how does that link to the text? Keep reading)

How dare you be rude, not speak, feel some sort of ill-will because I elected to opt out of the 'forever package' of my former relationship. (link to the text, coming up)
Seriously?
Why don't you take some of that energy and sit the ex down and explain to him what he was incapable of appreciating. Let him know that having someone maintain(clean, shop for, etc.) his home (despite being made to feel that it would always just be his home) is something that usually yields appreciation/recognition/head-nod. (Empty statements about marriage & a family in a few years, but the inability to mention wedding details without looking like you're going to vomit--are not considered 'appreciation')<------this paragraph is what links my anger to that text
After that, maybe you can chit-chat with him about the fact that you can't really sustain a relationship on once a week convos. (or several phone convos that when totalled don't exceed 30 minutes--in a week)<---uh-oh its the rant again....
Finally, you might want to mention that after the 8th grade its lame to "not disclose relationship status with the public" (unless of course you're Beyonce....then its REALLY LAME). <---really wasn't an angry factor, just lame....
I'm the one to blame? Oh...I see....Sweets in the one to blame?
Not so much, Man-the-f*ck up and accept that the disintegration of that relationship happened because I wasn't happy with you. It has nothing to do with the man that I'm happy with now.
Concession(see..I'm not unreasonable): I didn't handle the break-up appropriately and for that I'm sorry. I was unhappy for months before we broke up. So much so that by the time we got to the break-up I had already checked out emotionally(and it had been that way for some time). That's why I could move on so quickly. I admit, the ex absolutely deserved to know that things were going south instead of being blind-sided at the end.
{But--To my defense, I couldn't imagine how he didn't know things were "shot to sh*t," but again, I didn't tell him until I was on my way out.}
Oh...and the frmr friends of mine that feel as though coddling the ex's hurt heart means dabbling in rudeness/disrespect can kiss my a&&.<----that was a bit tart...made me giggle though.
Have a glorious day (I'm feeling great about mine).
LOL-By the way....leaving fb remarks @ 4am...is also lame. Sweet's ex is still single...give her a call.<--------So unnecessary....but....:-)
Finally!
Whew!

Angst

It made me instantly nostalgic for a city that didn't just follow all that is mainstream. Truth be told, I probably wouldn't want to see the movie, but I like having the option.
Add that to the list of things that I need in my quest for a new city......
Tires, Brakes, Money Oh my!
Sigh..........
I think I'm on my own on this one......I need a bus pass (ugh!).....(so stressed).

UPDATE: Let it Go!
Dani's action?
Cue...detergent, goo.gone, pre-treater, nail polish remover, a butter knife....
Update: to justify filling the machine up to wash my bag, I washed all of my cloth bags....All of them cleaned up really nicely....except 1...any guesses? (sigh) Luckily the nail polish only stained the inside...the outside of the bag is totally unscathed and will still be used.
(sad I know)
Really? In THIS city?

From this post?
Hmm...apparently this level of frivolity is coming to my doorstep.

Why am I so shocked? This is, after all, a culturally diverse city. However, this is also the place where vibrant souls come to die. I affectionately call this place 'home.' While the new addition is exciting, I can all but promise I won't make an appearance.
Why you ask? Because I don't like running in to everyone that I've ever known since grade school.
Oh well....it's still nice to know it's coming. I'm sure it'll close in a year or so, but still a nice addition.
Still Amusing
(if you didn't watch the show the next 6 minutes are worth your time)
Is it just me...I feel like I've met at least one person with T.I.'s exact personality in every stage of my entire life?
Annoyances
1. "We should still be friends" was your statement about a year ago. Then you proceed by being disrespectful to my other half, subtly and not so subtly suggesting that I re-kindle what wasn't present in my last relationship(and make amends), and more often than not you bring the awkwardness to every run in that we have.....but when I shoot down suggestions for us to 'do something together' you seem hurt. GTFOH!!!
2. Mc.Donalds....how I love thee....I know it's no longer 'cool' to like processed food....I get it. However, part of the reason that I'm willing to forgo my waistline for a few moments of a food 'quickie' is that my satisfaction is guaranteed. So when I sit in the drive thru line and order the one thing that I will eat for breakfast, a sausage biscuit, it is supposed to be bliss. I could cook breakfast, but I don't want the variables. I'm not interested in the food prep foreplay. I want the "big O" food equivalent, with minimal effort and maximum satisfaction. My last sausage biscuit tasted like over-salted ass. ***Face*** That is all.
2.5 Did you really have me sit in line to watch you make more coffee and then hand me my coffee made from the last driblets of the old batch? Toothless B*tch!
3. Cold.stone, how I love thee...However, if your business is ice cream and your ice cream has freezer burn then ummmm....all of your carefully squinting, at the flip chart mounted to the glass casing that you hide behind, is USELESS!
4. So Day.26's album came out yesterday. I anticipate it moving 30 copies. The last album was pretty good (yes Brew you were right). I didn't really get in to it untl I realized that playing the album=Sweets singing. However, while having the #1 show on MTV is cute...the show has stopped focusing on the point of the group....the music! Snipets of songs are barely interwoven between crying spells. I can't name any tracks off the album besides the current single. Can you? Oh...but I can tell you everything leading up to this clip and everything that happens after it.....
Are we pushing an album, a WWE debut, or a forthcoming T.yra special?
5. Why do I wake up @ 5am if you (el boss) are up @ 5, as well, and editing my content? If you are going to do my job then why not let me sleep until 8am?
6. Peo.ple magazine is an entertainment magazine. However, ever since the election they have slowly but surely been pushing 'hard' news and entertainment news. I don't get it....I go to Peo.ple to see celeb pics. So why is this the leading story on the site?

Our Song?
Let me clarify.....My moments are recorded on sheets of music. Major and minor life occurrences are paired with songs. Play something for me and it will take me back to a specific moment, feeling, expression, and even sometimes a fragrance.
Now in every relationship that I've ever had, certain songs have become important. Things get sticky, however, when you really like the song and it carries over to a different relationship.
Ie: 'Dangerously in Love' was a song that my ex thought of when it came to me....hmm..he wasn't really happy when I told him I couldn't share a 'special moment' with him over that song...because it reminded me of someone else. Ouch! too honest? Probably.
Alright...let us fast forward to current day. In a hypothetical pow-wow with Sweets we continued our possible 'first dance' song quest. It occurred to me that there is a perfect song suggestion BUT this was a song that has reared its head in my last two relationships. The words have meant something different each time, but its still the same song.
Formula for disaster?
Principles
Until I came across someone I wanted to sleep with.
I used to think it was reckless to go out Sunday night when you know that you have work on Monday morning.
Until I did it, had a great time and made it to work with no problems.
I used to think profanity was tacky.
Until I came up with a few choice combinations that are guaranteed to leave me with a kool-aid grin every time.
I used to think that living together aka shacking up was a bad idea all around.
Until....now.
My litmus test for the things in my life that I'm growing comfortable with, is whether or not I can freely and openly disclose those thoughts/decisions. Recently, ok not so recently (more like the last six months), Sweets and I have been talking about moving. Now, the reality of the situation is we are not interested in long distance relationships. As it stands we live less than 5 minutes away from each other (the distance in itself is aggrevating). Any move that we make will be together. I've read the studies about how living together can erode a marriage down the line. I understand the 'shacking up' issues from a moral standpoint. However, my reality is that I spend less than 24 hours a week at home.
I remember my adamant "never, ever, ever" statements and I just laugh to myself. It's amazing how quickly you can change your mind when you want to.
Oh, and to clarify...we have had the marriage talk, engagement talk, bills talk, credit score talk, kids talk, life goals/dreams/aspirations, christening the kids talk, religion talk, etc.
Any "never, ever"s in your life that you've backtracked on?
I'm Back
The weekend...hmm...the weekend was tumultuous for sweets and I...and I don't think we've figured out why. Just a lot of little arguments. I think we're on the other side of that. I started a post about it, but I might just let that one go. Moving on....
Easter was fantastic! I've been prepping Sweets for forever for my favorite holiday and it went smashingly well.
(the other two superstars in the pic are my favs Ash & Ana...HAUTE(thx June Ambrose)!)The only downside to the service was being informed that one of our beloved parishioners was in the hospital and was deteriorating rapidly. She later passed Monday morning (heartbreaking--she will be missed).
Pause....
I hugged her during Thursday night's service. Monday morning she was no longer with us....stop taking people/things/time for granted!
Moving on....
I think that's all that I have for you. This weekend should be pretty busy. We have our parishioners funeral @ 10am on Saturday...then we have this blessed event later that same evening.

Spelling...Is Fundamental
Truer words haven't been spoken. Know your strengths and arm yourself with spell check.
Waiting
Why...You may ask....am I like this?
1. My mother was the queen of "I'm five minutes away," and show up 30 min later.
--I was the kid sitting outside of girl scout meetings, youth group meetings, field trips, work....waiting....
It wasn't that my mom was malicious she just tried to accomplish 28 hrs of work in a 24 hr period.
2. My formative hair years were spent in my 'aunt's' shop where the wait time there is/was LEGENDARY.
-We would go to the shop on Friday after school (3pm) and leave Saturday morning (1am).
Homework for the weekend would be completed, we would get dropped off with snacks and order dinner while we were there.
To her credit, she was flexible with the service pay scale and you could make arrangements to stagger payments (that helps if you are a mom with two daughters....that's 3 heads @ a time(whew!)) She was also kind....but tardy and took forever!
Every single woman with a follicle of slightly ethnic hair in this county passed through that shop....and all eventually left with the same statement...."She does great hair...but we can't stand the wait!"
I went to her up until I started to pay for my own hair. The first time I paid for my own relaxer, she charged me full price and it took 5 hours. I haven't been back since.
With that type of background it's no wonder I am the way that I am. Furthermore, I've realized it's getting worse.
-I leave carts in the check-out line regularly..esp @ wal.mart (why do you have 42 lines but only 2 open?)
-I rarely make appts because I've inherited my mother's work schedule. But when I do.....(sigh) don't make me WAIT!
Does this mean that I'm an "on-time" person? Unfortunately not. But...Im a work-in-progress. However, when it comes to the service industry...the patience "train" has left the station.

Mini Rant

I have seen this screen more often than my actual home page. Don't create the new hotness if you don't have the server power to support it! OK....I'm done
You Need More People!

Sigh...
As a complete sidenote: if anyone can name ANY instance in which "the Dream" nailed (hell... or just did moderately well in) a live performance I'd really appreciate it.
Remember the Time
After dinner, the boy went to play with my cousins. The parents went their respective ways...the dad was on the patio chatting it up with my uncle and the mom was chatting it up with my aunt & mom. The little girl got the family room to herself, while my Gramps lounged in the living room.
The little girl quickly pulled up Nick on the computer and had the TV on the Dis.ney lineup. It was a whole foreign world to me. Forgive me for aging myself, but I remember when Dis.ney didn't even have commercial breaks. I also remember a time when Saturday morning cartoons were not to be missed. The new programming was a bit off-putting...
So here are the questions for the morning (an ode to Kiddie days)....What are your answers?
1. What was your favorite Saturday morning cartoon?
2. What was your favorite TGIF Line Up?

3. Can you finish this song? "It's Friday night/And the mood is right/Gonna have some fun....."
4. What cartoon character sheet set did you have?
5. Did you have a character lunch box? If so who was on it?
6. Do you know what these are?

7. Did you have a slap bracelet? If so what color/pattern.
8. Did you see any of these movies in the theatre? Who Framed Roger Rabbit, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Land Before Time, The Goonies, Short Circuit, Any of the Back To The Future movies.
9. Did you have sneakers with a pump or lights?
10. Name the Artist for these lyrics:
A. You got the right stuff, baby
Love the way you turn me on
You got the right stuff, baby
You’re the reason why I sing this song
All that I needed was you
Oh girl, you’re so right
And all that I wanted was you
You made all (my dreams come true)
B. You got to cool it now
You got to cool it now
Ooooooh watch out
You're gonna loose control
Cool it now
You got to slow it down
Slow it down...
You're gonna fall in love
C. Girl, you know it's true.
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh I love you.
Yes, you know it's true.
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh I love you.
Girl, you know it's true.
My love is for you.
Girl, you know it's true.
My love is for you.
Enjoy your morning :)

Damn
My stylist thought today's 7am appt was tomorrow. So I'm sitting here at the shop....with my whole day's schedule thrown off.
My eyebrow lady took off this week to spend spring break with her kids.
My brows are braidable.
It was cool this morning, I put on sleeves and now that the sun is up its already 10,000 degrees.
My sister is coming home this weekend! But I think my weekend is all booked up(sigh).
Because we were arguing(and by arguing I mean not talking to each other) I didn't get to debut the original Easter dress for Sweets and now I'm having second thoughts.
Banana is holding my Easter dress runner-up until 10:30am....I'm not going to make it.
My boss gave me an assignment yesterday and I wrote it down somewhere and lost the paper.
I'm having an internal battle about my nails....AGAIN.
I talked to my stylist yesterday about my haircut....the consensus is that I'll need to go back to a relaxer....I have been relaxer free since 2003.
I've been up since 3am and my day won't end until 9pm ish.
This 'momma' in the shop smiled sweetly at the receptionist in the shop and looked at her girlfriend sitting next to her and said while smiling "she (the receptionist) is so ghetto, bless her heart, she is the new work force and its a shame."
Then smiled even harder and let out a small chuckle and said: "giirrlll, my 11-year-old could do a better job...bless her heart"
I think the shop owner walked by and gassed me ....while my mouth was open.
I'm dyeing my hair medium/dark brown....while reading reports on light brown being the color of the season.
Malawi officials deemed an orphanage a better place to raise a child than Madonna's care.

Why?
[Lil Wayne]
yes i do it big
call me little astronomical
weezy f baby and the F is for phenomenal
(Sigh) Why????.....This is why kids can't spell!

T.J. Hol.mes on CMM[sic]
"Christiane, How rare is it for the Queen to call Obama up and say come on over for some tea..."
[Pause]
Christiane: "I don't think she said come on over...."
Why is it that some anchors are unable to 'turn off' their 'lax-ness'????
--------------------------------------------
Why is it that when you delete a post from blog.ger the post still appears in Google reader?
Hmm....

Mims-Move (If you wanna)
Model on my arm no homey I don't have to pay-her
All I have to do is tell her where I wanna take-her
Catch us out in Italy, then we in Jamai-ca
Caught up in the rapture, like Anita Ba-ker
Hmm......so if Mims records this video while singing to one of the models on Candy Girls. Isn't she on his payroll and wouldn't that be an exact negation of the lyric?
Why front? Just wondering.....Carry On....
--------------------------------------------
The NYT posted an article about Mic.helle Oba.ma, her husband and her closet:
“[President Mr. O]’s always asking: ‘Is that new? I haven’t seen that before.’ It’s like, Why don’t you mind your own business? Solve world hunger. Get out of my closet.”
She teasingly imitated him: “You didn’t need any more shoes. The shoes you had on yesterday were fine. Why can’t you just wear that for the rest of the presidency?”
Sigh...why is that so something I would say!
------------------------------------------------
Why can't I pay my Spri.nt prices with a AT.T phone with Ver.izon service offerings?
------------------------------------------------
Watching the G20 summit protests and remembering the Inauguration coverage...why is it that news agencies like to place a reporter and camera person in the midst of loud and rambunctious crowds and then act surprised when they can't hear the response, the live feed is interrupted, or the interview is as interesting as dry paint.
Reporter: Standing here in the middle of the masses.....
Audience: (that's obvious...we're watching you stand there)
-----------------------------------------------
Why is this cute in print, but looks terrible on TV?

---------------------------------------------
Speaking of Mic.helle Oba.ma:
Why was I equally and instantly offended and amused when Kat Williams said that you know if you walk up on Michelle she will smell like Motions and Cocoa Butter....
Linear Posts/Weekend Recap
Last week was terribly busy. We had a corporate visit (job 2) which required a week of prep work and frantic cleaning etc. The visit happened on Thursday and was successful (sigh of relief). Job 1 was filled with 8-9 hour days of scanning employee files...hundreds of files for days....sigh.....
Friday was a beacon of sunshine and Sweets and I peaced out of the Spring Bling and Boat Show mayhem and headed north to Orlando. The trip was a two-fold venture...our(Sweets and I) willing and gracious Inauguration hosts were vacationing in Orlando AND we (Sweets and I) needed some debauchery time with Sasha Fierce (pic to follow), Esteban, Ash & Brew.
The weekend was glorious! And...you'll be proud of me....Everyone has now actually received their gifts. The downside to giving everyone their gift? I don't have a camera @ the moment...but I'm working on it. Brew was on his grind and posted all of the pics from the weekend (Thanks!) so I can share them with you.
Note: Noah won't be actively present in our photos until July some-time but we still acknowledge his presence/baby bump :)

I think everyone in this pic is a 'regular' with the exception of Mr. Mac...he's Tashpash's other half....
Note: Happy First Anniversary to you both....Marriage is a beautiful thing.
We ended the night here:
Ok...so the live singer is fantastic! We saw her(Chaundrian) at the AKA Lounge and heard she was performing at BB King's and had to come and see her do her thing. To be accurate it's Chaudrian featuring Soul Kamotion.....

Note: Now....Sigh...I happened to glance over and make eye contact with this man as he was palming the bootie of his dancing mate. AWKWARD!
Chaudrian is blowing in the background (as usual....SANG!)
Great trip & Great weekend :)
Toothless B*tch
Text message from my brother: The internet is down what's the log in information to reboot?
Text from Dani: (all the information to reboot the system)
Dani: (Rolls over grabs computer to login and start working) Hmm...its not working....
(Dani then grabs a robe...trudges to the living room....struggles to find a flashlight....pulls all of the cords out.....struggling...struggling.....struggling.....)
Dani: (Sigh) That toothless b*tch!
Epiphany: The brother got the information that he needed and instead of rebooting the system and going about his business, he connected his video game system directly to the dsl modem and left the computer and wireless router disconnected.

Issue #2
Now the internet is up and running...it's 5:45 am....and I'm pulling up the work logs to see what articles were covered by the night team. I'm seeing good numbers in the major categories. Hmmm....what I'm not seeing is any coverage of Obama's arrival in London.
Now...on a personal level, my interest in the G.20 Summit can be summed up by this lovely blog.
However, professionally, I need my team to be all over it. We have an article saying he's left the U.S., but nothing saying he ever arrived...anywhere....hmm....
Here's the kicker.....by the time I realized that we hadn't covered his arrival (which happened 15 hours earlier), he(Obama) was moments away from finishing a press conference with the U.K. PM......Can't cover the 2nd item until we cover the first one.....great.....its 5:53am.
Press conference finishes @ 6am. Effectively my evening team leader has left me in a position where I need to generate two major items in 7 minutes and then be prepared to account for why we missed such a major event 15 hours prior.....Toothless B*tch!!!!!

I need coffee....and a bat....heads are rolling this morning.
