Ramblings: Holiday Weekend Wrap-up

1. I finally got to spend some QT with LC and he unknowingly dug his own hole by gifting me a beautiful onyx and pearl necklace & bracelet.

I mean....now we HAVE to go somewhere that requires me to dress up enough to wear it.
*kanye shrug*

2. There is still a lot for us to learn before we consolidate addresses. This weekend confirmed:

a) I will need to find a house-boy who enjoys long walks on summer evenings (because heat/walking/LC do not mix)

b) We will need a storage unit, a new furniture plan, a knick-knack shelving unit, two DVR's, and some sort of tv off timer that can wait long enough for me to fall asleep, but short enough not to wake him up.

c) a fervant work-out plan to balance our love of restaurants and bars.

3. Speaking of bars...we made it to a dive bar in one of my favorite parts of town and I redefined loser in our Connect 4 marathon. Thankfully the board games and drinks were plentiful, but I've got to do better. Next time we should play Taboo....that is where I shine.

4. Can I just mention.....I needed that 4-day weekend. Yes lawd!!!

5. Speaking of "yes" and exclamation points (baby, avert your eyes)....I finally saw Fast 5 this weekend and really the Rock and Vin Diesel's back, arm, neck regions...my word. *moment of silence* also....they were almost too big to be shot in one frame...I'm just saying. It was truly my guilty pleasure of the summer movie schedule.

6. The Robin Hood foundation had a BEP ticket giveaway for a Central Park show. Of course I entered and of course I entered fellow blogger Dani while she was in Barcelona. Of course she won and I got a nice email that said "no." So we are going next week and I, for one, am EX.CI.TED!

7. Went to a comedy show over the weekend with LC and I literally choked laughing at one of the comedians. You know the room was the size of a closet. Trying to time your life saving coughs with the laughter in the room is a skill I didn't know I had. Whew!

8. I need a day in Central Park...even if it is hopping from one shady patch to another shady patch.

9. New boss asked me if I planned on relocating to be closer to LC. Then realized the forwardness of his question and back-peddled fast enough to start a fire. In true Dani fashion he never got an answer and my face never changed.

Happy Daniversary!

A year ago today....

I moved to New York with 3 suitcases and prayer. With my brother's help and some angels (read: great friends and a great man) I successfully started a new chapter of my life.

It's been an incredible year and I'm thankful for everyone's support.

Funner [sic]

Every night it feels like I have 2 hours to myself, then I wake up and do my day all over again. I don't know what I'd like to accomplish, but I'm almost positive that I'm not anywhere close to accomplishing anything short of making it to work(physically not mentally) every day.

In true fashion, I've printed my summer calendar and between today and Labor Day, I have two free weekends. Not an exaggeration. Booking travel for the next few months starts tomorrow. I can't even deal with what that is about to look like.

My home design project has finally hit the financial wall and at this point there are choices to be made. I'm starting to adjust some of my end goals.

Its almost time to resume my 2012 job search.....joy. I'm praying that a year from now, everything will be better adjusted.

I guess things get funner [sic], when that becomes a real word.

Unattended

My newest boss is the definition of a micromanager. When I breathe, she breathes and then she'll want to talk about how the breathing went and how we can make it better next time around.

Her absence this week is a relief to my soul, but a deafening blow to my motivation level. I haven't even been able to get here on time, much less do any of the millions of things on my to-do list.

What came first the procrastinator or the micromanager?

Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I Said I'd Never Do THIS Again

LC and I decided that we would not spend more than 3 weeks apart.

We came to this decision a year ago when he had a stretch of work trips and we spent most of July apart. Fastforward to May 2011 and we've now hit day 15 of our second three week(+3 days) stretch...

---------------------------------------------------

I hate my phone. Seriously. I HATE IT. More specifically, I hate my ringer.

When you're trying to compensate for hundreds of miles, you talk on the phone incessently. Now when you've dated someone for about a year, you start to run out of things to say. I mean....

I love you...check
How was your day?...check
Are we trying to spend a lifetime together? check
What are you watching?...check
Still want kids?....check
Where should we live?....check
How's your mom?....check
Weekend plans?....check

So now I have a quandry....because I don't want to skip the talking part. The talking is what is keeping us sane. To be real...talking is what I do....and once again....if I'm not talking to him then I'm talking to someone else (take it how you want). So we chat for hours on end...but now it feels like we've got nothing new left to say.

Now, every relationship that I've ever had....ever....has started with a lot of long chats about this and that. They usually have progressed to less phone time and more face time. That isn't an option right now.

So we talk, but seriously....I want to throw my phone out the damn window!

The reality isn't that our phone convos are bad or even boring really. I'm being a bit dramatic(if you can't tell). The real issue is that if he's on the phone with me then that means he isn't in the room with me and THATS THE REAL PROBLEM.

Ok....Rant over.

99 Problems

My problem is that I care too much about the people reading my posts. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that someone cares enough (or is bored enough) to take in the things that are on my mind, but never before have I refrained from writing because I was busy thinking about what readers might think.

Silly Dani...

So here we go.

Chapter 2

The last few weeks have felt like the best and worst of times. When I realized that I'd be here at least another six months, I exhaled a bit and allowed myself to feel like this was home.

Which means that I'm inevitably putting some distance into the relationship.

As long as I existed in a transient state I was more there than here.

Now I'm here for real.
